Quiet questions
Does the vessel need electricity or water?

No. Each vessel is passive — the essence rises through cedar reeds, silently, into the air of the room.

How long does one filling last?

A 50 ml essence lasts approximately six to eight weeks; a 100 ml essence, twelve to sixteen weeks — depending on the room and the season.

Can I move between essences?

Yes. Rinse the reservoir with warm water, dry with linen, and replace the reeds when introducing a new atmosphere.

Is the ceramic unique?

Every vessel is hand-thrown and hand-finished — subtle variations in tone and glaze are the mark of the maker.

no. 02 — the atmosphere

The Residence Vessel

The architectural format — a larger vessel for open rooms, entrances, and lived-in living spaces. The atmosphere expands; the object remains still.

no. 03 — material & craft

Made slowly, by hand, in small batches.

matte ceramic
no. 01

matte ceramic

Turned on the wheel, fired low, finished by hand — a porous, unglazed surface that holds the oil quietly.

cedar reed
no. 02

cedar reed

Fine hinoki reeds, cut and dried in small batches — drawing the fragrance upward at the pace of breath.

atmosphere oil
no. 03

atmosphere oil

A small-batch blend of hinoki, temple incense and warm tea steam — composed in low light, decanted by hand.

How the atmosphere works

Slow atmospheric diffusion — quiet, waterless, continuous.

Waterless

No heat, no water, no steam. The oil is drawn upward through fine cedar reed at the pace of breath.

Preserved

Pure oil, undiluted — the depth and integrity of the composition is held intact across each pour.

Continuous

A slow, residue-free release into the room — atmospheric, ambient, never insisted upon.

no. 04 — the ritual

How the object enters the day.

i
pour

Pour the atmosphere oil slowly into the vessel, until it settles into the chamber.

ii
set the reeds

Place the fine cedar reeds upright, letting them draw the oil at the pace of breath.

iii
let it settle

Allow the room to take the scent over hours — quiet, ambient, never insisted upon.

no. 05 — inside the home

Where it lives.

  • In an entrance, on stone or wood.
  • In a living room, beside an armchair.

An object scaled to the room — and to the long, slow hours within it.

no. 06 — the scent

A composition that opens slowly — cedar, then incense, then the quiet of tea steam.

itop

Hinoki cedar, dry leaf, cold morning air.
